Fiesta calendar:
January
The first fiesta of the year is Finestrat’s oldest; a celebration of Sant Antoni. Each household in the town donates something for the feast to be had on the day.
There is also a celebration of the arrival of the three kings to Belén – a procession and distribution of presents to the children.
February
A fiesta is held in February to honour Sant Blai.
Easter – Good Friday: throughout Spain, fiestas are held to celebrate Easter week and this often marks the highlight of the fiesta calendar. Viernes Santo is celebrated in Finestrat by a religious procession through the streets of the town
August
This week long fiesta is dedicated to the town’s patron Saint Bartholomew. The shops shut and everyone joins in the festivities, practically 24 hours a day.
You can expect dancing in the moonlight, live music, sporting events and the crackle of firework displays overhead.
September
This month the town pays tribute to the end of each summer season with fiestas on the beach including children’s entertainment, music, dancing and yet more parades.
